Service in BPW - Jackie Melvin (USA)

We lost a longtime BPW member in November 2023.

Jackie Melvin joined BPW in 1985 and served in numerous offices and chairmanships at the local, state, national and international levels.  She started her career in 1960 - teaching high school students English and drama -- championing for educational theatre. After teaching for 20 years, she attended law school and began a second career as an attorney, specializing in estates and trusts.

As President of CFBPW, Jackie led the fight for affirmative action legislation in California.  In recent years, she was deeply involved in educating women about the prevention of sexual harassment.

In 2022 we featured a story about Jackie: click here. I am extremely honored to have her as part of our Artslink team who focused on stories about the arts and how it impacts women and the culture around them.
