BPW-Montreal member, Viviane Casimir, is the founder of Myoku and a Zen mind-body coach who combines her diverse background, spiritual practice, and artistic endeavors to empower individuals in their journey towards self-transformation and inner peace. With a strong foundation in Zen philosophy, Viviane's work aims to guide people towards Oneness in their mind-body connection and in their lives.
Viviane’s background is a tapestry of multicultural experiences and academic achievements. Shaping her perspective on the world and reflecting her multidisciplinary approach to life, Viviane –
is a Canadian of Haitian descent who grew up in Morocco,
holds a B.S. in biology and a Ph.D. in comparative literature, and
is a former university professor who later worked on Wall Street in NYC.
Her spiritual journey led her to join the Kwan Um School of Zen in the USA, where she deepened her practice and adopted the Buddhist name Myong Oh. Her training in Kyokushin Karate, Shaolin Tai Chi, and Usui Reiki further enhanced her understanding of the mind-body connection and energy flow.
Fluent in French, English, and speaking some Swedish, Viviane has conducted workshops and shared her Myoku practice internationally. Viviane also hosts a VoiceAmerica podcast called, “Tea Break with Viviane Casimir” – where she engages with guests to explore mindfulness, personal growth, and how to integrate wellness into daily life.
She identifies most with photography and moving arts, utilizing the transformative aspects of martial arts to guide individuals towards self-realization.
Viviane inspires others to have a sense of Oneness by helping them strive to become the best version of themselves, connect with their true nature, and contribute positively to the world.
When asked what her dream project would be, Viviane said, "Arts & Consciousness!" She wants to co-create an event or summit aimed at bringing together different art forms, including photography, painting, film, music, dance, tai chi, and more, under the same mission of awakening and inspiring people to live in Oneness. She believes that humanity is at a crossroads, and conscious evolution is crucial for our collective future.
By actualizing the belief in Oneness through various art forms, Viviane envisions cultivating creativity and the arts to counterbalance dehumanizing technologies and political agendas.
Actively involved in events related to arts and culture –
As an affiliate with "Humanity's Team," a nonprofit organization promoting conscious living, Viviane has created a program titled "Zen Mind-Body" for everyday life. This program helps individuals develop a daily meditation practice and incorporates tools such as incense, mantras, and Qi Gong movements.
Viviane is also preparing for a Myoku Zen retreat in the Sahara Desert, scheduled for spring 2025. This retreat will provide participants with an opportunity to align with their inner silence and wisdom through Myoku practice in a serene environment.
Viviane's journey as a Zen mind-body coach, artist, and advocate for conscious living exemplifies her commitment to empowering individuals in their pursuit of self-transformation and inner peace. With upcoming events and her dream project "Arts & Consciousness," Viviane continues to contribute to the awakening of humanity and inspire positive change through the arts!
